Can Cold Therapy Cause RSD?

Many are saying that exposure to cold therapy ice machines which are in essence recirculating ice coolers can cause RSD sometimes called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome or CRPS.

Remember RSD has the following signs:

  • Severe burning pain at the injury site
  • Heat changes and color changes at the burning site
  • Excessive sweating at the burning site
  • Swelling of the skin and/ or tissue at the burning site
  • Extreme sensitivity to touch
  • Intense pain

Obviously, an early diagnosis is the key to getting the best medical help possible. If you have the above symptoms and your doctor is telling you don't have RSD, go to another doctor for a diagnosis. We have seen many clients who have had to go to multiple doctors before they got their RSD correct diagnosis.

We are investigating cases of victims being diagnosed with RSD or CRPS from cold therapy including ice machines, recirculating ice coolers. If you or a loved one suffered from this condition, please contact one of our RSD intake specialists at 1-800-718-4658.

If you feel you have this condition from cold therapy, ask your doctor for an EMG test. An EMG test can detect nerve damage in the upper and lower extremities (arms and legs) caused by trauma or from a cold therapy machine. Ask for an EMG or an electromyogram.

If you or your loved one has suffered from RSD please contact us by calling us at 1-800-718-4658.
